Oh where to start, anybody remember the whole “tear down the center lot and build a new round pen” issue? Well the center lot has been gone sense last year, and the area reserved for the new round pen has been marked out sense this spring, we have yet to have a round pen.
Anyway this spring I started building a few jumps in the center lot area, a ditch and a small brush pile, both are outside the area designated for the new round pen, nobody had problems with them (or if they did I didn’t hear about it) Yesterday I decided to start on the other jumps I had planned, a hanging timber and a bank complex of some sort, I got the tools I needed together and spent about 2 and ˝ hours working out there yesterday morning. I dug holes, I trimmed branches, I hauled dirt, I pounded nails, I worked my butt off. I got the hanging timber’s support posts in the ground, got the chain attached to the timber. I made a small X jump between two trees and I also started filling a large tire with dirt (making a platform out of it) and have plans to fill another one.
Last night the vice president (the president is on a TDY) approached me “please, please tell me you got a digging permit and permission before you planted those posts” I sort of looked at her and said ”well John gave me the post hole digger and I told him I was building an obstacle or two” VP expressed much relief, apparently the resident barn bitch was jumping down the VP throat about what I was doing, and she had recruited the president as well, yes the president who isn’t even here to see what I’ve done.
“She can’t build stuff there! That’s for the new round pen”
My things are outside the round pen’s area, I may not need/want the round pen but I’ll not prevent ya’ll from building it.
“She can’t be planting posts without a digging permit!”
The posts I used are in the ground no more than maybe (maybe) a foot, not deep enough to require a permit.
“She’s using our wood, the wood we are supposed to use for the round pen”
Negative, the wood I used I rescued from a dumpster, it’s mine.
I guess they failed to notice the tire obstacle I’m working on, having them as platforms was Ms Bitches idea about two years ago, it’s never been done and I figured it was about time to stop moving the tires, trying to mow around the tires, weed whack inside the tires, etc.
I fully understand my XC jumps have little interest for the other barn members, but with the exception of the X jump I made all my obstacles can be used when working a horse from the ground, and that’s what Ms Bitch and her friend do, ground work, lots of ground work (a type of training called Parelli) and it’s retarded.
So what are my plans? Why to finish what I started, to complete my hanging timber, to finish filling the tires with dirt and plat some grass seed in them, to get a start on my bank complex area (if I can wrangle the RR ties myself) and to basically carry on as I had planned, I refuse to let bitchy people change how I live my life.
As a visual, here are my little obstacles
First the Ditch I dug forever ago with Slaves help (thanks again slave)
Next the Hanging Timber, yes I did move it there myself :D
the chains can be shortened to have the timber off the ground, I just don't want that stress on the posts yet.
Onto the X jump, it's plain, but fun, I like flying through the trees
and lastly the tires, I got the second one mostly filled in today, but I ran out of dirt.
yes that is my shirt hanging on the shovel handle, I got warm :P I was actually hoping someone would show up at the barn so I could get a pic of me working but alas it was not to be, perhaps another day.
